A bird's eye view of the vineyard
Holy Gospel according to Saint Matthew (10:26) and Saint John (8:32)
Trust not in princes, nor in the children of men, in whom there is no safety. His breath shall go forth, and he shall return to his earth; in that day all his thoughts shall perish.
Holy Prophet and King David (Psalm 145:3-4 according to the LXX)
To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never to forget.
Arundhati Roy
Thou shalt not be a victim.
Thou shalt not be a perpetrator.
And above all,
Thou shalt not be a bystander

I am prepared to die, but there is no cause for which I am prepared to kill. I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent. Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.Mahatma Gandhi
I am for truth, no matter who tells it.

I am a pessimist by nature. Many people can only keep on fighting when they expect to win. I'm not like that, I always expect to lose. I fight anyway, and sometimes I win.

So three people are going to decide how 300 million have healthcare. I'll keep my freedom, guns, and money you keep the change.
@THX1138: I am sorry to say that your freedoms are long gone, the coppers have a lot more firepower, and the economy is in ruins with the top 1% owning more than the bottom 95%.
Your move.
No problem we'll start some more wars. Didn't Goethe say that no people are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free. Soon we'll find out if blog bitch boys and keyboard commandos got the stones to do something about it. P.S. I don't fear the judges step and fetch it bitches known as the police.
This is disgusting. Look at how much the US has squandered on wars in the Middle East and banking bailouts. There is plenty of money for that but no money for healthcare? What a crock!
On a side note, Lou Dobbs petition to bring home all of our troops - including those in Korea, Europe, and Japan, as well as those deployed in the Middle East - is encouraging. Hopefully it will build momentum in conservative circles for withdrawing our military footprint and slashing military expenditures.
If enough Republicans come around to this position the Democrats will follow. It will also have been one of the few things either party has done for the people whom they are supposed to represent.
Even if you can't stand Lou Dobbs, please look at this petiotion:
It is time to call a halt to the nonsense, bring home our troops, and not just from Iraq and Afghanistan, but the 60,000 troops in Germany, 37,000 in South Korea, 10,000 in Japan, 10,000 troops in Italy.
Bring all of our troops home, and leave only a modest presence wherever it might be proven absolutely necessary, but bring home our troops. And let our allies carry their own share of the burden, put their military forward against whatever enemy is perceived, potential or existent, and let's work as mature responsible partners in these alliances, rather than the United States as some sort of senior partner, some sort of big brother who carries most of the burden, nearly all of the financial sacrifice, and in Iraq and Afghanistan, the overwhelming sacrifice of blood from the brave men and women who serve this nation in uniform.

Good article AA. I love how the lamestream media never mentions the cost of wars as they wail and moan about the economy. There is probably a webpage that shows the cost of the wars.
@AA: what happened to Lou Dobbs?! WOW! Not that there is any chance that anybody will actually do that, but even raising the issue is a good thing. Never thought I would say something positive about Dobbs.
@Lash LaRue: "lamestream media" - great expression! LOL. I will keep this one in mind along with NPR - Neocon Public Radio ;-)
